We love hot tubs, our guests love hot tubs, and they can give a great return on the investment over time. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for guests, it’s important to properly maintain and service them.
Routine Service:
- Check the water chemistry before and after each stay, and adjust as necessary to maintain the proper pH and sanitizer levels.
- Monitor the hot tub temperature and make sure it is set to a safe and comfortable level for guests. The recommended temperature range is typically between 100 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Skim debris and remove sand and dirt from the bottom using a shop vac or a specialty hot tub vacuum.
- Clean the filter after each stay. Remove debris, spray with a hot tub filter cleaner, and hose off using a pressure nozzle.
- Encourage guests to shower before using the hot tub to reduce the amount of oils, lotions, and other contaminants in the water.
- Remind guests not to bring glass or other sharp objects into the hot tub, as they can cause damage or injury.
Seasonal Maintenance:
- Drain and refill the hot tub at least every three to four months, or more frequently if the water appears cloudy or has an unpleasant odor. Use a hot tub cleaning solution and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Check the water chemistry regularly and adjust as necessary to maintain the proper pH and sanitizer levels. A test kit or strips can help with this.
- Replace the filter cartridge every six to 12 months, or as recommended by the manufacturer. If properly maintained, every 12 months should be sufficient.
- Inspect the hot tub cover for damage and clean it with a mild detergent and water.
